HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL

🏫About Ajyal International School MBZ

Ajyal International School MBZ (AJIS) is a British curriculum school that opened in Mohammed Bin Zayed City in September 2014. It was the first school established by the Bin Omeir Foundation and is situated on a spacious campus in a popular residential area predominantly inhabited by Emirati families. The school offers education from FS1 to Year 13, with mixed-gender classes through to Year 5, followed by gender-segregated classes from Year 6 onwards.

Since its inception in 2014, Ajyal International School MBZ (AJIS) has experienced significant growth and development, both in terms of student enrollment and educational quality.

🏫 Campus Development at Ajyal International School – MBZ

Ajyal International School in Mohammed Bin Zayed City has undergone significant campus enhancements to accommodate its growing student body. Originally, the campus faced challenges such as underutilised outdoor spaces and limited facilities. However, over time, substantial improvements have been made to enrich the learning environment.

The school now boasts a range of modern facilities, including:

Dedicated Play Areas: Shaded outdoor play spaces, including a dedicated Early Years area, have been established to promote physical activity and social interaction.

Swimming Pools: The campus features two indoor swimming pools, providing students with opportunities for aquatic education and recreation

Sports Facilities: Comprehensive sports amenities include a gymnasium, large outdoor playgrounds, full-size football pitches, and courts for netball,  and volleyball, supporting a wide range of physical activities.

🏅 Academic Achievements

Ajyal International School MBZ has shown continuous improvement in its educational standards:

  • 2016–17: Rated Acceptable in the second inspection by the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK).

     

  • 2018–19: Upgraded to Good in the ADEK inspection. ajyal.sch.ae

     

  • May 2020: Achieved a Developed rating during the distance learning inspection.

     

  • December 2024: Awarded a Very Good rating by ADEK, reflecting the school's commitment to educational excellence.

Rated “Developed” during the latest distance learning inspection.

Learning is facilitated through a balance of adult-led and child-initiated activities, both indoors and outdoors. Structured play allows children to explore, develop ideas, and learn to control themselves, understand the need for rules, and communicate effectively with others.

 

In Primary School, students transition to more subject-specific learning. Core subjects such as English, Mathematics, Science, and Humanities are taught by UK-trained class teachers, while specialist subjects like Arabic, Islamic Studies, Social Studies, Music, Art, Technology, and Physical Education are delivered by subject specialists.

The Secondary curriculum builds upon the foundation laid in Primary School, focusing on deepening knowledge and preparing students for external examinations. In Key Stage 4 (Years 10–11), students undertake IGCSEs, and in Key Stage 5 (Years 12–13), they pursue AS and A-Level qualifications.

Holistic Learning Beyond the Classroom

At Ajyal, we believe that learning extends beyond the classroom. Students engage in various extracurricular activities, including:

For any child with special educational needs, our Learning Support Team, in consultation with the child, teachers and parents, will assess and design a personal plan for them. This plan will be regularly reviewed to ensure the needs of the child are constantly in focus.
